* Giving Thanks from the Field
Buffalo Family,
We are grateful for the presence of more than 3,500
Yellowstone bison, the most wild in the world, and for
the thousands of people who love, respect, and value
their existence. Whether you've felt the blessing of
standing near them or in knowing they exist, we give
thanks.
We give thanks for the magnificent bulls who this very
moment stand strong on their ancestral Montana lands
nourishing the Earth with their droppings and avoiding,
for another day, the guns of hunters. We are grateful
to have shared the world, for a time, with the four
bulls who gave their lives last week, and grateful that
the world will hear their story and find inspiration
to right the human wrongs visited upon this irreplaceable
herd. We are grateful that the Department of Livestock,
an agency with a glaring conflict of interest, will
one day soon be divested of all involvement in bison
harassment, experimentation, and slaughter.
We give thanks to the snow falling from the sky today,
knowing it will be held close to the earth by the frozen
hand of winter and released in spring to nourish the
grasses turned flesh by deer, elk, antelope, and bison.
We are grateful to each of you for making it possible
for Buffalo Field Campaign to be here, on the Yellowstone
boundary, working for the buffalo. Our family, strong
and diverse, spans Montana, North America, and the globe.
Whether you've given your time to be with us in the
field with the buffalo, supported our efforts with a
financial contribution, set up a fund-raiser, sent us
gear or clothing, donated food, shared news from an
Update with a friend, contacted a policy-maker, pundit,
or politician, said a prayer for buffalo freedom, called
or written with words of support, know that you are
an essential part of Buffalo Field Campaign. We give
great thanks for your energetic, passionate, and committed
involvement.
