I
walk across this land
On a thin highway of Brown
Many of these paths still exist
If one knows where they can be found
Many
now stolen
And Paved over in Black
Like the land before them
The Oyate (people) will never have them back
Each day another Sacred Place
Or forest is lost
The Government tells us
For progress, this is the cost
At
dawn, the sun rises
A new day is born
My heart again is filled with faith and hope
No bitterness or scorn
Yet as the night approaches
The day begins to die
More losses have been suffered
My heart begins to cry
Grandmother reminds me
INA s (Mother Earth) time line is long
Unlike us
Our pain and life in a moment will be gone
Then
in the sky is heard, the shrill call of a circling messenger
My heart is uplifted
and made aware
Creator constantly looks upon us
Each day Creators gifts are still given in love and with
care
All is in accord With Creators Plan
Tomorrow will start a new Awakening across this Land
