Horse Butte Resident, Susan McClure 04/05/06

Dear Governor,

My name is Susan McClure. I live in the Horse Butte area of the Rainbow Point pennisula outside West Yellowstone, MT. Yesterday, a large hazing operation took place which involved numerous DOL personnel on horseback, forest service, fish & game, the sherriff, etc. They were hazing some 300 bison off the Horse Butte. I WANT TO KNOW WHY?????

The Munn Ranch which is part of the Butte has sold and there will be no cattle or horses there this summer. That eliminates the so-called bruscellosis threat. So why are my tax dollars being wasted for this frivolous effort?? When Karrie Taggart and I met with you back on March 11, 2004, you stated that if you became governor the bison hazing would become a non-issue quickly. You are governor and have been for over a year now and the bison hazing is still very much an issue. It shouldn't be an issue period but especially not when there are no longer cattle coming to this area.

We, the Horse Butte Neighbors of Buffalo, want it stopped and stopped now. They are hazing newborn calves, some with umbilical cords still hanging, and for all we know pregnant females who could give birth at any moment. So we can't be lied to anymore and told that it is because cattle will be on the Butte this summer. What line of crap will we get fed next as the DOL and Park Service try to shove this act down our throats? Tourists stop to take pictures of BISON not cattle.

Please respond.

Thank You,
Susan McClure
