Brooklyn is an enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe and currently works for the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries Management Program.  From May 2005 to May 2015 Mr. Baptiste served as an elected member of the Nez Perce Tribe Executive Committee(NPTEC) which is the governing body for the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho. The NPTEC is a nine member executive board or “tribal council” that sets statutes for the tribal membership as well as the many tribal programs that serve the membership and protect existing treaty rights. The Nez Perce Tribe Executive Committee works directly with State and Federal Government agencies.

Mr Baptiste served as Chairman,  Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the NPTEC for several years. Mr Baptiste also served as Chairman of the Natural Resource Subcommittee to the NPTEC for 9 years on tribal council. He also served on the Law & Order Intergovernmental subcommittee, the Human Resource subcommittee, the Budget &a Finance Subcommittee and the Land Enterprises subcommittee. While on council, Mr Baptiste worked directly within the Natural Resource field as a policy representative of the Nez Perce Tribe.

Mr Baptiste also served as Chairman of the Natural Resource Committee for the Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest(ATNI), the Chairman of the Natural Resource Committee for the National Congress of American Indians(NCAI), served as board member on the NCAI Climate Working Group, Policy Representative on the Department of Energy’s Blue Ribbon Commission, a board member to National Tribal Environmental Council, a board member to the Interagency Bison Management Planning team(IBMP) as well several other policy working groups regionally and nationally within Indian country's.
