HELENA
(AP) - Gov. Brian Schweitzer has appointed a
Malta rancher and the owner of a Livingston travel business
to the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission.
With the addition of Willie Doll and
Dan Vermillion, the five-member commission consists entirely
of people appointed by Schweitzer, a Democrat.
Doll and Vermillion succeed John Brenden
of Scobey and Tim Mulligan of Whitehall, whose terms expired.
Republican Gov. Judy Martz appointed Brenden and Mulligan
in 2003. Mulligan already was on the commission as an
appointee of Republican Gov. Marc Racicot, who chose him
to complete the term of the late Dale Tash.
Doll owns and operates a 27,000-acre
farm and ranch in southern Phillips County.
Vermillion is vice president and co-owner
of Sweetwater Travel Co. He also established a conservation
fund in Mongolia and practiced law in Billings for almost
a decade.
Commissioners set fish and wildlife
regulations, approve property acquisitions and act on
certain rules and activities of the Department of Fish,
Wildlife and Parks. Commissioners are appointed to four-year
terms.
Doll and Vermillion will join commission
members Steve Doherty of Great Falls, Victor Workman of
Whitefish and Shane Colton of Billings. Doherty is the
chairman.
Schweitzer also announced two appointments
to the Hard Rock Mining Board: Shain Wolstein of Butte
and Marianne Roose of Eureka.
Wolstein is a program coordinator for
the American Red Cross of Montana and a trustee for the
Butte School District. Roose is a Lincoln County commissioner,
and has worked for the county as an office manager and
court.
