from the Buffalo Stampede
Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Buffalo
Stampede a
thundering success! Today's Buffalo Rally celebrated
a successful week
of building national support for the Yellowstone bison.
BFC members in
Washington, DC report that their educational efforts
generated
considerable interest in the halls of Congress to protect
the last herd
of wild bison in America. These congressional and national
allies will
be important for the hard work ahead to stop the slaughter
of the
Yellowstone buffalo.
This afternoon's rally was a wet one, but even thunderstorms
couldn't
drench the spirits of the gathering Buffalo Stampede.
Our new 25 foot
buffalo balloon, taking a cue from its wild brethren,
nearly blew away
in the stormy skies! To see a picture of the event and
read our press
advisory, go to our website:

You can also check out our latest videos on the web.
Buffalo Hope is a
good overview of the issues facing the Yellowstone buffalo
and our
efforts to protect them. Shame on Yellowstone documents
the Park
Service's slaughter of 231 wild buffalo inside Yellowstone
National Park
earlier this year. The videos can be found at:

A story will also be aired nationally this afternoon
on NPR's All Things
Considered.
Special thanks to Rebecca and Jeff at The Fund for Animals
and Bette and
Nancy at The Humane Society of the United States. The
Stampede couldn't
have happened without you.
