This Mother’s Day, BFC gathered for our annual “Free Coffee! Free Cookies! Free the Buffalo!” event to celebrate wild buffalo calving season and mothers both human and wild. We lucked out with a window of sunshine in this otherwise cool, cloudy, and blustery week. BFC volunteers spent Saturday baking cookies (others were on patrol, don’t worry!) and preparing banners and tabling items. On Sunday we set up at the Rainbow Point Road parking lot, just off of Highway 191. K2 and Courtney danced along the side of the road, drawing attention and bringing in traffic. We are pleased to report that this year we nearly doubled the visitors from last year, and now people who were just traveling through the region know what is happening to the last wild buffalo. Many thanks to Cindy, Lara, Courtney, K2, Maria, Sarah, and all the other wonderful women of BFC for making this event happen! And here's to hoping all of the mothers out there — human and wild — had a wonderful Mother’s Day full of love and flowers!
